Herts County Council fails to secure £7m farm to smooth £30m A120 bypass plans

HERTS County Council has failed in its attempt to secure land to smooth the progress of its £30m A120 bypass project for Little Hadham.
Earlier this year, the authority rushed through special permission for chief executive John Wood to make a £7.19m offer for Church End Farm.
However, a spokeswoman said this week: “As far as we are aware the sale has taken place, but Herts County Council has not purchased Church End Farm.”
Cllr Terry Douris, Herts County Council’s cabinet member for highways, said: “We would like to invite local people to a public exhibition to share their views about the current proposed scheme, prior to our planning application submission.
“This is everyone’s opportunity to discuss the emerging design and impact on landowners, communities and the environment.
The current preferred route, known as 5b, is one of seven considered and has caused controversy with some villagers.
There will be a pre-planning application consultation and a public exhibition of proposals and research at Little Hadham village hall on Thursday, October 16, 2.30pm to 8pm; Saturday, October 18, 10am to 3pm; and Monday, October 20, 4pm to 8pm.
