BISHOP’S STORTFORD FOOTPATH 070

This very useful and well used urban public footpath connects Apton Road to Windhill. It links three local schools – St Josephs Primary, St Michael’s Primary and St Mary’s Secondary providing a valuable link for parents and pupils. The footpath itself is fairly narrow and is quite uneven underfoot, it also suffers from encroaching vegetation. It has street lighting along the route but much of the lighting is obscured by trees. At the Apton Road entrance the footpath has two poorly positioned barriers that make it very difficult for parents with buggies to navigate (I’m told that they need to be lifted over). The barriers also prevent access by wheelchairs. We’ve asked Herts CC to review this public footpath to see what could be done to improve access for the local community. Removing the barriers would be a good start. They’ve agreed to visit and we’ll provide a further update in due course.
