LITTLE HALLINGBURY FOOTPATH 038

Some good news.

The BSDFA and Uttlesford Ramblers have been pressing Essex CC for since 2021 to address a wet and muddy section of a public footpath in Little Hallingbury. The footpath is impassable for much of the year and work to address the problem has been hampered by difficulties in getting access to this remote footpath over a local farmer’s field. A solution was recently reached when a householder adjacent to the footpath kindly allowed contractors access through their garden. The materials (twenty plus large timbers) were moved onsite with the help of volunteers from Uttlesford Ramblers and work now been completed by the contractors.

It’s great to have this section opened as it provides a key link in several walks along the River Stort and also facilitates good connections between Thorley and Little Hallingbury Parishes.

Many thanks to Essex CC and the Uttlesford Ramblers for facilitating this work. It was certainly a challenge shifting the materials down a slippy footpath to the site. We will be joining the Ramblers on Monday morning (10th November) when we will undertake some further maintenance work to clear the scrub that has grown along the footpath.
