ORDER UNDER SECTION 26 HIGHWAYS ACT 1980 TO CREATE AN EXTENSION TO BISHOP’S STORTFORD BRIDLEWAY 008

We are very pleased that Herts County Council has made an Order to create an extension to Bishop’s Stortford Bridleway 008. This will create a new section of bridleway from Hadham Road continuing north for 170 metres to link with the existing bridleway.

Any representations about or objection to the Order may be sent in writing to the Countryside and Rights of Way Service (CRoW) not later than 19 January 2026. Hopefully, the Order will attract no objections and it can be confirmed unopposed early next year.

The BSDFA first highlighted this anomaly back in 2018 and is delighted that CRoW has taken this initiative forward. The extension will enable walkers, cyclists and riders to travel from Hadham Road to Wickham Hall and beyond.
