New walking / cycling route

Last May, we reported that the ‘Walk Wheel Cycle Trust (formerly Sustrans) had been awarded the contract by Bishop’s Stortford Town Council to design a much needed walking and cycling off-road route linking Grange Paddocks and the Red, White & Blue Country Park.

The Feasibility Study has now been completed and prior to a formal planning application being submitted later this spring, the Town Council is giving local residents the opportunity to provide their views on the project. The deadline for this initial consultation is 28 February 2026. Full details of how to comment together with the full Feasibility Study report are detailed in the Town Council post.

The BSDFA fully supports this initiative and will continue to play an important role in the project as a co-opted member of the Town Council’s Sustainable Transport sub committee. This new path will provide a safe pedestrian link to the new developments and schools in Stortford Fields and St Michael’s Hurst. It will also connect with the new Bourne Brook ‘greenway’, that is currently under construction, providing walking links to Farnham, Stansted Mountfitchet and the extensive rights of way network to the north of the town.

Please share your views with the Town Council.
