A FURTHER UPDATE ON THORLEY FOOTPATH 022

On 10 August, I was very pleased to advise that the pedestrian rail crossing into Thorley Wash nature reserve had finally reopened after a six month closure. At the time it was somewhat concerning that although a new wooden stile had been constructed on the western side of the railway, to the east, there was just a gap in the fence, which I expected would shortly have it’s own stile installed. Unfortunately, rather than doing the obvious,Network Rail has closed off the crossing yet again.

I’ve reported this breach to Herts CC as the six month ‘closure order’ granted to Network Rail earlier this year has now expired and my understanding is that there were no plans for an extension to be granted. The matter has been reported and will hopefully be resolved as a priority.
