A planning application for 750 homes at Bishop’s Stortford South has been submitted to East Herts District Council (EHDC) by the developer, Countryside Properties.
The plans allow for a mix of uses on the site to support a ‘sustainable community’, and currently propose around 750 new homes including affordable housing, land for a secondary school, a primary school, a care home, a 4-5 hectare employment area, a neighbourhood centre, community facilities and areas of public open space.
The site has been earmarked for development in EHDC’s new District Plan which is currently on hold following a review notice issued earlier this month by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
The inclusion of this Green Belt site for future development has been highly contentious and has faced long-term opposition from local residents and Thorley Parish Council.
The BSDFA has already issued its objections to any development within this Green Belt site.
