DANE O’COYS – BISHOP’S STORTFORD

We have been alerted that the temporary closure of Dane O’Coys has resulted in pedestrians experiencing problems using the lane to link with the local rights of way network.

I visited this afternoon to check out the situation after receiving an unhelpful response from the Herts CC Highways team. Despite the presence of heavy machinery I managed to walk the length of the lane. However, at a couple sections I was required to wait for clearance to proceed by the contractors, who were generally very obliging. Given the nature of the work and the narrow width of the lane I suspect that there may be times when it may be just too hazardous to let pedestrians through.

The works relate to the laying of an electric cable to a local sub station and are scheduled to be completed by 10 November.
