So a Very Happy Christmas and a Good New Year to You All!

In December there is a BSDFA walk  diarised for the 17th,  and there is the Boxing Day Dash on the 26th. Again in January 2018, there is only one walk diarised- on the 7th.  Really sorry, but this is owing to a lack of available walk leaders  but do check the website in case a walk has been slotted in at the last moment. A reminder, the Boxing Day walk leaves at 10.30.

There is a new Albury Walks leaflet, offering 3 self-guided walking routes of between 3 and 5.5 miles. (It is possible to create a figure of 8 walk of 4.5 and 5.5 miles to make a longer 10 mile walk.) The walks use public rights of way and permissive paths to explore the rolling countryside around the parish of Albury, including Patmore Heath, Albury Hall and Hadham Hall.

Albury Parish Council has been working with the Countryside Management Service to devise the routes and create this new leaflet. This has been developed through the Parish Paths Partnership, a programme funded by Hertfordshire County Council.

The leaflet can be found at local Hertfordshire libraries, but also it can be found on the “Walking and Cycling Routes” page of the Countryside Management Service Website. This and many other routes can also be downloaded from:-

https://www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/services/recycling-waste-and-environment/countryside-management/walking-and-cycling-routes.aspx

Additionally, there is a super coloured booklet of local “Stansted Saunters” over varying distances, which may be obtained from the Stansted Parish Council (SPC) at Crafton Green (not the Day Centre). These walks were drawn up and tested by a local resident, Bill Stiles and was produced and published by the SPC.

Finally our own BSDFA booklet of Walks is available from the Stortford Information Office for £6
