We have been advised that National Highways will be carrying out essential work to waterproof and resurface the Alsa Wood Footbridge over the M11, which is located west of the village of Elsenham. Originally planned for November it will now be carried out over a two week period from Monday 6th December to Friday 17th December, working on weekdays only between 8am and 6pm, weather conditions permitting.
The footpath leading to the bridge on either side will be closed 24/7 for the duration of this work. Pedestrians will be diverted to cross the M11 via the B1051. However, we wouldn’t recommend walking along this very busy road. An alternative and safer diversion route is shown on the map below.
