The Bishop's Stortford & District Footpaths Association was founded in 1957 to preserve, protect and maintain the public Rights of Way network and rural verges in the Herts and Essex border area around Bishop's Stortford. We are a registered charity No. 1068733.
At last a lovely sunny day for a walk! There were 23 (and 2 dogs) on todays’ walk – 6.5 miles of very scenic countryside around Standon. The area around the River Rib near Standon is flooded and many paths are currently resembling streams. The River Rib has burst its banks in several places. Some lanes, footpaths and bridleways are under several feet of water – Barwick Ford was unreachable.

Only four braved the elements for todays walk. Whilst the weather wasn’t as bad as we were expecting, the ground was very wet and muddy and in one place it was almost impassable – deep water surrounding a stile forcing us to walk through ankle deep water.
